Pledge Campaign 2013-2014

New Unity is committed to making a difference in individual lives and in the larger world. Doing so requires our energies, our commitment, and it takes financial resources.

Increasingly, the programmes and services we dream of offering, the causes we wish to support, and the physical environment we need for our life together require a reliable stream of financial support

Please pledge your financial support for 2013-2014 below.

About our pledging campaign

Each spring, all New Unity participants are invited to pledge their financial support for the coming year fiscal year (6 April 2013 to 5 April 2014). New Unity is what we make of it and its future is determined by our support with our time, energy, talent - inevitably - money.

The easiest way to make your pledge is using the online form below.

Note that a pledge is not a payment, but rather a promise to pay over the course of the year.

Pledging your support in advance enables the Committee and Rev. Andy to plan the budget for the coming year. Your generosity will determine New Unity’s path toward our shared vision of a vital, vibrant, welcoming, justice-seeking and transformative community.

New Unity needs, on average, £306 in pledges per member in order to maintain our current activities - and more if we are to expand what we do. Naturally, some people are unable to pledge this amount and others are able to pledge considerably more. The fact that some of us can and do give more money, time, talent, or energy than others and that we do so happily is part of the generosity that is so important to New Unity’s character. Last year’s pledges ranged from under £10 to over £2,000.

Only you know your finances, your dedication to your community, and the other factors that go into this decision.
Please note that whatever method you choose to make your pledge, it is important that you complete a pledge form in order that we may plan for the year ahead. We hope to make this simple for you.

How your pledges are spent

Your pledges will allow New Unity to:
  • Continue to provide a spiritual and liberal religious home that acknowledges the breadth of human experience and is open to finding the divine in unexpected places.
  • Provide a professional minister and, in the future, add short-term and or part-time ministerial support for more and better pastoral care, programmes, and Sunday gatherings.
  • Support Bright Lights - our programme for families with children - to make a positive difference in the lives of young children.
  • Support a growing music programme headed by a new and dynamic Music Director, Stephen Brown. More funds means higher quality music and musicians. It means more diversity in our music.
  • Support the administrative/facilities functions that hold New Unity together. Our administrator carries out as much of this work as he can do in three days per week. At our current size and activity, a full-time position would be more fitting to the amount of work needing to be done.
  • Improve our multimedia and web presence to reach and serve a larger community than can and do come to our buildings.
  • Work to alleviate suffering within and outside of our congregation at a time of economic trauma and cuts in public benefits.
  • Train and support our community members so they can confidently lead projects, govern, and participate in the full life of the congregation and the Unitarian movement
  • Maintain and improve our buildings and grounds. We would like to improve our buildings so that all our facilities are modernised, more energy efficient, warm, aesthetically appealing and accessible for all.
  • Finally, pledges keep all the background things happening. There are costs that most of us hopefully don’t have to worry about, but which continue to come up every day. They are almost invisible, but we’d notice immediately if they disappeared! These range from printer supplies to toilet supplies, from washing up liquid to roof repairs, from door chimes to chalice candles, from heating bills to banner signs.
