Code of Conduct

Each member is called to care for their fellow members and play a part in their spiritual growth. It is therefore imperative that we act at all times with courtesy and respect towards each other and that we take responsibility for our actions.

This code of conduct seeks to assist members to act in such a way as to encourage the well-being of the community.
  • Members are invited to show courtesy to each other.
  • Members are invited to treat each other with respect.
  • Members are invited to refrain from gossip.
  • If a member is having difficulty in their relationship with another member, they are encouraged to talk to the person concerned in the hope of achieving or restoring harmony.
  • If a relationship is causing a member particular pain, and if talking to the concerned party has not worked, the member is invited to contact the minister for guidance.
  • Members are invited to respect confidentiality in their dealings with private information
  • Members are invited to listen to the thoughts and ideas of others, remembering that listening is more than waiting for an opportunity to speak.
  • Members are invited to speak their truth with gentleness, remembering that truth without gentleness can be cruelty.
  • Members are invited to refrain from behaviour that constitutes verbal, emotional, physical or spiritual abuse. This includes behaviour and language that might be personally threatening or demeaning.
  • Members are asked to refrain from acting in any way that might bring the good name of this church community into disrepute.
