Charlotte Webber grew up on a farm in the countryside of Essex where she began her clarinet lessons at Havering Music School. At the age of 14 she started at the Trinity College of Music's Junior Department where she studied the clarinet under Donald Watson and Christopher Atkinson. She was principle clarinettist to the Junior Trinity Symphony Orchestra from 2003-2005 and achieved her ATCL on the saxophone under Barry Graham. She was lead saxophonist in the Junior Trinity Saxophone Quartet who made a performance at the Purcell Rooms in 2004. In 2005 Charlotte was awarded the Woodwind prize at Junior Trinity and in the same year won the Coopers' Music Festival.
Charlotte now studies at Trinity College of Music under Michael Whight and has performed in master classes with Alan Hacker and Joan Enric Lluna. She performs regularly with the Trinity Symphony Orchestra and is principle clarinettist for the Trinity Wind Orchestra who are currently recording three Hovhanness Symphonies for the Naxos record label. Charlotte is also studying Jazz with Mick Foster on the Saxophone and Flute.
Charlotte is passionate about contemporary clarinet repertoire and free improvisation and hopes to further these areas of study when she graduates. She also has a love for painting and hopes to pursue these areas and discover more connections between the music and fine art world in the future.
