Sarah Baily was born in Welwyn Garden City in 1985 and now lives in Greenwich, London. She began singing lessons aged 4, started the clarinet a year later, violin when she was 6, and then bassoon lessons aged 8.
Sarah studied at East Hertfordshire Music Centre from 1992, then went to Framlingham College in 2001 for sixth form. She was offered a place at Trinity College of Music in 2003 for the Foundation Course, and a year later was awarded a full 4-year scholarship for a BMus degree at Trinity. After having a local teacher for several years Sarah was then taught by Sarah Burnette, who is now a professor at
the Royal College of Music. She is now learning with Stephen Maw.
Sarah has played with many orchestras including Hertfordshire County Youth Orchestra of which she was Principal in 2005, Whitehall Symphony Orchestra (Principal 2003-5), Hertford Symphony Orchestra, Stevenage Symphony Orchestra, Uttlesford Symphony Orchestra and has been Principal of Trinity College of Music Symphony Orchestra on numerous occasions. She has also performed at many different venues over the years including Ely Cathedral, the Royal Albert Hall and the Barbican. She has worked with many conductors including Sir Colin Davis and Peter Stark.
Sarah will be graduating from Trinity this Summer and would like to persue a career as an orchestral and chamber musician. Sarah has recently made a recording with Naxos featuring American Wind Orchestra music. It will be released later on this year.
