Meditation Group

  • New Unity @ Newington Green 39A Newington Green London, England, N16 9PR United Kingdom (map)

Meditation can lead to positive changes in our behaviour. This group doesn't impose doctrines or dogmas about meditation. Instead, it tries to support what you want out of your own meditation.

The participants have diverse motivations, practices and rationales. All are acceptable. We avoid imposing rules. As a free-thinking community, we respect the right of individuals to seek truth as they see it. We discourage fanciful talk about meditation. And we discourage seeking agreement or imposing views on others.

In our weekly meeting, we meditate together. We find this experience fulfilling, supportive and reaffirming. Many also find that it enhances their meditation practice outside the meeting.

Doors open at 7pm. We turn off our mobile phones and settle down. At 7:15, we start our first 20-minute meditation. We then have a silent 5-minute break, followed by another 20-minute meditation.

At 8pm, we start our discussion. First, we go round the room: everyone gives their name and - without being interrupted - says as much or as little as they want about their meditation. Afterwards, we have an interactive discussion of our meditation experience.

On the first Tuesday of the month, one of us (or a guest) gives a short presentation on some aspect of meditation.

Please enter at the red side door on Church Walk.

Cost: £2 per session.
