Our regular Sunday Gathering. An opportunity for wisdom, joy, solace, and community – followed by a healthy dose of caffeine, cake, and conversation.

Gatherings include live music, a story for children, singing, poetry and literature, a talk from our minister, and time for sharing joys and sorrows.

The theme of this week's Gathering will be Hope, Despair and Ecological Grief. How do we mourn what we have not yet lost and at the same time stay hopeful and and active, trying to save? By any reasonable account, we must act and act urgently to prevent catastrophic climate change. For many, the potential for despair feels overwhelming, and so we often tend to try to remain numb to the potential for such a loss as a planet. What if we let ourselves feel sad and then we can never get up again?

At the same time, the earth is still here, we are still here and the world is still beautiful. Climate change is an ambiguous loss - it hasn't happened yet, but we cannot ignore its coming. How do we exist in this both-and state, the world as we know it still so much with us, but threatening to disappear from view at an unpredictable future moment? How can we be sad and hopeful, and not tune out from feeling overwhelmed?
