At New Unity, we aim to inspire children and young people of all backgrounds to discover their own way through life – and, as the next generation of decision-makers, to make decisions which promote a more loving and just world. Each event has a theme, and is linked to the main Sunday gathering and/or Unitarian values. Children begin their time in the chapel with the rest of the Sunday gathering before going upstairs with our staff.

Our Children and Young People’s Programme focuses on a weekly session for children, held at the Newington Green Meeting House during our 11am Sunday Gathering. It provides a time for families to be part of the life of New Unity, with activities (arts & crafts, stories, music & movement) that speak to children. We occasionally have family outings onto Newington Green or elsewhere.

Each week, we explore different themes that help the children to make ethical decisions and discover their own way through life. Past themes have included “Creation Stories from Different Traditions”, “Who We are in the World” and “What do Animals Give Us?” The Unitarian approach is non-dogmatic, encouraging the children to find their own answers, and discuss the issues with their peers.

The programme is run by our Young People’s Programme Manager.
