Sunday Gathering: 'What Does It Mean to Be Religious?'

What Does It Mean to Be Religious?

At various times throughout its history, New Unity has embraced its identity as a religious organisation to advocate for moral and social causes. At others, it has asserted people’s right to dissent from religious orthodoxy and to worship (or not worship) according to individual conscience, or has claimed to be non-religious. During all these times, the congregation has advocated assertively for the right to freedom of both its members and the larger community to live, thrive, question, and wonder at the mysteries of our universe. In this context, it is worth asking what it means to be religious, and how embracing or denying that depiction impacts our work advocating for human dignity and fulfilment.

Attend either online or in person at the Newington Green Meeting House, 39a Newington Green, London, N16 9PR (fully accessible). Go here for more information and the Zoom link, and here for directions to the Meeting House.

Children will join in the chapel and leave for their programme after the first hymn.
